Carpet & Rugs
-
Most carpeted areas will take 6-8 hours to dry completely (in temperature controlled environments). Area rugs will usually dry even sooner.. We recommend leaving AC/heat on and ceiling fans running during this time. Occasionally with dry weather outside, opening the windows is ok, but more times than not due to humidity in this area, drying will happen best with windows closed and AC/heat on.
-
You DO NOT want to walk on the damp areas with shoes on if at all possible. Going barefoot or with socks only is fine however. Be careful when stepping from damp carpet/rugs to your tile or other flooring, as your feet could be slick!
-
Any furniture that is moved to be cleaned underneath will either need to stay off for the duration of drying time, or will be prepped with plastic or styrofoam by us.
Tile & Grout
Once we have sealed your grout, it will be much easier to keep clean, but there are still some suggestions we would like to make to help you. As with most things, there are variables involved with how and when you clean your floor. Such as: Do you regularly wear shoes indoors? Do you have pets? Do you host a lot of parties?
This is not a one-size-fits-all approach, but hopefully a helpful guide.
- Vacuum your tile/grout regularly (weekly at least), instead of sweeping. This ensures you are getting most particles, large and small, off of the floor. This is especially important to do before any mopping.
- Speaking of mopping, it is usually sufficient to mop with only warm water once you have sealed your floor. And more times than not, you don’t have to mop as often as you might think if you are vacuuming regularly. We recommend cleaning up spills by hand if possible, and only mopping the entire floor every 6-10 weeks. Any time you mop, make sure to change your water often, so as to not spread the dirt around.
- If you think warm water is not cleaning sufficiently anymore, you can use a PH neutral floor cleaner. These can be purchased at most hardware stores as well as online. You should not use any alkaline or acidic products to clean after sealing. It is very important to rinse the floor thoroughly when using your PH neutral cleaner, as residual product can be left behind to attract dirt if not. We recommend rinsing even if the product states it is a “No-Rinse” formula.
- After a period of 2-4 years, we have many customers who hire us to clean their traffic areas. These areas may have gotten to the point where they take more effort on your part than you care to give, and a professional extraction cleaning will help. If you have used us to seal your grout in the past, you will receive a reduced price per sq. foot, along with free color seal touch-up if needed.
Upholstery
-
Most upholstered furniture takes only 1-2 hours to dry completely. We will leave any cleaned cushions propped up to allow for airflow. You may want to adjust these after 30 minutes or so, so all areas of the fabric will dry.
-
We suggest purchasing a bottle of Folex to keep on hand for spills/stains that occur. This is a great product that will not leave a residual behind, and can also be used on carpet and rugs.
Stone Patios
-
After sealing, we will help place items back on your patio after a period of approximately 2 hours. This is the sealant manufacturer recommended time before foot traffic occurs.
-
No significant moisture should be present on the sealed stone for a period of 24 hours. Due to this, we will adjust scheduling as needed with the projected weather conditions.
-
Sealers need to be reapplied every 1-3 years in uncovered areas where sun and rain affect the surface, whereas covered surfaces can last up to around 5 years.
